CASEA Bauprocalc KAP 830 and CASEA Bauprocalc KG/FP Hydraulic Lime Based Skim Coat were specially selected for the internal finish of the unique renovation of this old Farm House, Killumney, Co Cork. Internal walls were plastered using CASEA Bauprocalc KAP and finish coated using CASEA Bauprocalc KG Lime Skimming Plaster. CASEA Bauprocalc KG is a factory produced CE Marked, Hydraulic Lime based Skim Coat specially designed for hand and machine application produced to DIN EN 998-1: 2003. Bauprocalc KAP 830 is a factory produced Hydraulic Lime based Plaster specially designed for hand and machine application produced to DIN EN 998-1: 2003. The product’s unique properties such as; high water vapour permeability (breathability), sustainability, and the special composition which allows constant hygrometric exchange between the substrate and the environment, were the key drivers in the selection of this plastering system. Smet Supported Partner, Mark Hosford, with main contractor Coleman Howard Plastering; machine applied the high quality products internally. Another showcase of sympathetic restoration, using top quality sustainable products available from Smet Building Products Ltd.

NHL 3.5 and CASEA Bauprocalc KG/FP Hydraulic Lime Based Skim Coat were specially selected as the internal finish of the unique renovation of Shanvilla House, Belclare, Co Mayo. Internal walls were lime plastered using NHL 3.5. Internal walls had finish coat using CASEA Bauprocalc KG/FP Lime Based Skimming Plaster. Bauprocalc KG Hydraulic Lime Skim was also used over Calcitherm board internally. The product’s unique properties such as; high water vapour permeability (breathability), sustainability, and the special composition which allows constant hygrometric exchange between the substrate and the environment, were key drivers in the selection of this plastering system. Smet Supported Partner, Plastering & Stone Mason Contractor, Patrick Walsh, machine applied the high quality NHL products internally, while the external walls were rebuilt using NHL 5.

Description

Onexit Universal 701 was selected for the application onto Poroton insulating masonry at the new extension of Our Lady’s Hospital, built by main contractor Walls Construction. Face 8, specialist facade contractor, Drogheda, carried out both the build of the 450 m² blocks and application of the render. The special render properties; light weight, low thermal conductivity high yield and technical back up, were the key factors in selecting Smet Building Products & Onexit’s high quality product. For the application of a scratch coat prior to gypsum skim, Bauprotec 900 E was spray applied. Again a showcase project highlighting the how best practice can be achieved when partnering with Smet Building Products Ltd.

Smet Supported Partners, Plastering Contractors (Stanmore) Limited, completed the floor screed application of 14,000 m2 of innovative SMET LiteFlo® Lightweight Flowing Screed in the iconic final phase of the acclaimed Great West Quarter, in Brentford, West London. SMET LiteFlo® Lightweight Flowing Screed is a high-quality pumpable, factory-produced, CE marked, self-levelling screed based on calcium sulphate. German-made SMET LiteFlo® is unique because it’s the first pumpable lightweight flowing screed available.

Made from specially selected aggregates – means it’s 30% lighter than conventional flowing screeds and can be laid in reduced thicknesses. Camden St, in Dublin, received a full façade restoration by main contractor Avid Building Contractors, utilising Natural Hydraulic Lime 3.5 on the external wall façade. Key drivers in the selection of Lime based plaster include: improved ‘breathability’ to water and water vapour which reduces the likelihood of frost failure of the unit materials and improves the internal living environment. High quality pure Natural Hydraulic Lime binder 3.5 is produced under an ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 14001:2004 quality system to EN 459-1.  NHL binders are particularly suited for ecological new build, restoration and preservation works.
